I recently bought an NVidia GeForce 7600GS 512MB AGP card for my desktop pc. Upgraded from an ATI Radeon X700 128MB card. The new 7600 was absolutely horrible! Received the BSOD plus other errors no matter if used the latest drivers from ATI were used or not. Apparently the new Forceware 163.75 drivers from Nvidia are loaded with problems. I have put my old card back in for now and no problems. Should I wait for better drivers for the 7600GS or are there other solutions you have? Is this a good card? I need a good card with Shader 3.0 support for the latest games. I am leaning toward an ATI Radeon X1650PRO but if no solutions for the 7600GS card I perhaps you guys know of one better for under $130.
I have an AMD Athlon 64 processor, 3200+ with 1GB DDR ram. Does not have PCI-E capability.
Your help is appreciated.|||is your power supply underpowered?
That is an overlooked part of computers that causes crashes if it is not powerful enough.
You can try to find a ati x1900xt agp, those are good.|||GeForce 7600 GT is a high rated card. You may have issues with your PSU or your drivers. You need at least 500 watts with that system.|||500w?? What are you smoking?? The MOST it would need is 350w...and i do think that is that problem...his PSU is cheap and crappy...|||with out a PCI-E slot your limited to the lower end cards. the driver you mentioned is based an a direct X 10 platform. So I can understand why you had issues.
I would suggest looking for the highest end PCI card you can find. Non Pci-e cards are about equal.
If your serious about gaming then it would be better if you just replaced the motherboard and then get a pci-e card. MB's for your processor and ram are really inexpensive. Try looking at say newegg.com or tirgerdirect.com and seeing what is available.
Good luck
