Hi, what is some BEST GeForce Video Card for Gaming ?(but for Core 2 Quad) i thinking that is 9800GTX 512MB?

hi jean

the geforce 9800gtx is a excellent card however it uses the same gpu (nvidia g92) as the gts250 which can be found online for about £30 cheaper

for example the Gainward GTS 250 Graphics Card 512MB PCI-Express TV/DVI/HDTV ( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component… is a excellent card and gainward are a respected manufactuer that have been churning out gaming cards for over 10 years

the gts250 as i have mentioned are nearlly the same as the 9800gtx however the gts250 has a slightly better core clock( 738mhz compared to 675mhz in the 9800gtx) however the memory clock remains unchanged at 1100mhz or 2200mhz ddr effective

the pixel and texture fill-rates are exactly the same as is the resulting memory bandwidths of 70.1gb/sec however the gts250 has a better shader clock with 1836mhz compared to just 1688mhz in the 9800gtx

one major improvement in the gts250 is the 55nm(nanometer) manufacturing process compared to the 65nm in the 9800gtx which is reflected in the power draw of both cards

were the 9800gtx draws a maximum 168watts of power the gts250 draws just 150watts however nvidia state that the GTS 250 consumes around 81W under load (6.5A on +12V and

around 0.9A on +3.3V rails).

so in reflection the gts250 would be your better choice of card however if your power supply is adequate then i would highly recommend the "nVidia GeForce GTX 260 896MB PCI-E"( http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Othe…

this is around 25% better than the gts250 and has some excellent specs including a 576mhz core clock and a massive 448bit memory interface,in laymans terms this card will eat up and spit out any game you care to throw at it...and if you wait until the end of the year the gtx280 should drop in price, this is even better

then again for around £100 you could easily afford to get the excellent "XFX Radeon HD4870 1GB XXX PCI-E 2.0 "( http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Othe… )

this has a 775mhz core clock and 1gb of gddr5 memory running at a mammoth 3800mhz,these are awesome speeds and need to be seen to be beleived

the only downside with the radeon cards is the lack of physx and cuda support which you get with the modern geforce cards however the far superior speed in the radeon HD4870 make it a worthwhile investment

i hope this helps, however any problems let me know

good luck jean !|||9800gtx is an old card. it was revised to catch up with 4850 and was named 9800gtx+ and is now known as gts 250 by increasing some of the original 9800gtx clocks. although a decent card, gtx 200 series is better and faster. gtx260 has become a bang for the buck card and performs very well in games. i for one is using this card coming from 4850 paired with a q6600 and i love playing my games in full HD. higher gtx models are faster but is expensive. if you have the money, go for gtx285 or gtx295.

HTH|||Really the 260 219 series, the 275GTX, 285 and the 295 are all better than the 9800GTX, but then again they cost $200 or more, and you really have to look into your power supply for those cards, so you can look at spending another $50-$100 on a PSU...|||9800 gtx is also a good card but i think u buy ATI 4870 or ATI 4890 that is good for u if u want to go in nvidia u buy GTX260 that is good for u

SO GOOD LUCK
