Help picking a video card for a gaming comp?

im not to good with hardware compatibilitie but i tryed to find a cheap way to make a good gaming computer that would last me for quite some time with out having to upgrade for a while and ive read and seen that amd is the best way to go for this. so far Im going with a amd athlon 64 x2 6400 black editon maybe (is there a difference between the black edition and a regular?) and a Asus m2n32-sli deluxe motherboard and i think im going to get about 4 gigs of ram with xp and now im just curious about what kind of video card i should go with.|||The best bang for the buck is the geforce 8800gt, around $240, and it is future proof. it's like buying a mustang that beats ferrari's. It's better than the 8800 gts which is more expensive. even beats the 8800gtx on some benchmarks which is around 450$ http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2… . Than goto newegg.com and check price vs performance ratio!,or goto www.ncix.com . http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

the ati radeon 3870 is another one around 260 bucks, but just slightly slower than the 8800gt and also a lil more expensive. If your on a budget the lowest i'd go is an ati radeon 1950pro which is around $110. As for your processor, check out the charts at tomshardware.com. intel still holds the crown for the best processors. But i think amd's are less expensive. What is your budget for this new card?|||Geforce are the best here are some links...

That should last you.|||hm...i suggest Gforce...coz its the best as far as i know.|||I read somewhere Black Ed is manufactured to be better suited for overclocking; 2 gig is already plenty now, save some cost in that area, both ATI and nVidida's numbering scheme have their performance indexing at the hundredth number so an ATI Radeon X800 would outperform an X1300 and GeForce 6800 goes faster than a 8500.

But as the board is SLI you would stick with nVidia GeForce cards, 8800 cost a leg and arm but 7950 is much cheaper.
