Wich are the best drivers to use for a Radeon 9500pro video card?

Im having problem finding the best drivers right now im using the 5.5 catalyst but im getting VPU error when using games like World of Warcraft.|||Have you tried the latest drivers from ATI's website?|||try the omega driver. its ati drivers tweaked specifically for games.

http://www.omegadrivers.net/|||It is generally recommended to use the drivers provided by the manufacturer of your particular video card.

Although it is using an ATI GPU, sometimes companies alter\rewrite code as well as perhaps accessing the GPU in a different manner electronicly for THEIR card.

I suggest you try both ATI's as well as your card's manufacturer's drivers to see which is best for you.

BTW, Are you aware that AMD (the "other" CPU manufacturer) BOUGHT ATI?|||The World of Warcraft website says the tested driver version is

Windows 2000/XP - Catalyst 4.9

What is the best video card for gaming(AGP)? nVidia geforce series or ATI Radeon?

can u also give me the specs of your answer?tnx|||Fastest is a X1950XT ( its significantly faster than a pro as it has a completely activated core instead of the disabled pro)

Whats your computer as it may bottleneck the graphics card?

for the average AGP system I reccomend a 7600 GT AGP.

Try this site makes comparing graphics cards easy(reviews & theoretic performance)http://www.gpureview.com/

for the Nvidia ATI thing depends on your system ATI=highend (x1950s)Nvidia=mainstream (7300 GT-7600 GS/GT)|||I've never had any problems with nVidia. I am a loyal believer in their cards.

My $.02.|||For the best AGP videocard for gaming would be the ATI X1950 pro.|||Nvidia is much better, much better drivers.

I have a x1600 and a 6600gt which are supposedly the same performance, but the 6600gt works much better, and the x1600 has all sorts of problems with drivers and artifacts (little triangles and lines that appear randomly)

You can get up to a Nvidia 7900gs for AGP, which is very good.

The 6600gt is nice, and the 7900gs is 3-4 times as powerful.

You can look up any card with Tom's GPU guide:

Video card upgrade for gaming?

Hey,

Just bought a new HP Pavilion a6009n about a month and a half ago. I started playing this PC game called Elder Scrolls IV, it's a 3D adventure type game with a huge virtual world. Much to my disappointment, the game runs poorly and is quite choppy - the graphics are not smooth at all and it's very difficult to maneuver and to battle in the game since it's real-time action. I just bought this computer, but I guess I'll have to upgrade the video card. I have a 19" widescreen that I'm playing on (does that matter?). I have an NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE in there right now and I would like to upgrade the video card so it will run PC games without a hitch, but I'm not looking to spend over $150. What do you think? Is there a specific video card I should check out?

Best regards,

Joe|||lol i dont know what the guy talking above me is saying. you can get an XFX Geforce 8600 256mb of GDDR3 for like 130$.

Also there is an HIS Radeon (partnered with ATI) it is an HIS Radeon 1650PRO IceQ 512mb of GDDR2, i heard this card is decent, but it doesnt support directX 10, so if you dont have vista and dont plan to upgrade to vista any time soon, get a card that supports directX 9, they're getting somewhat cheaper.|||I never find good Graphic Card for gaming with price under $150. For gaming, i think Geforce 7600 series are enough. I find a good Graphic card (I think..), Leadtek Geforce 8600 GTS TDH / 256 MB / GDDR3 / SLI / PCI-e / Dual Link / Dual DVI / HDTV, the price is $ 200 (Amazon.com price). The Difference with your budget ($150) is just $ 50. Maybe it's good choice for you...|||honestly, you cant find a descent nVidia or ati radeon under $150, the cheapest would be a nvidia geforce 7 series but if you want to play elder scrolls without any problems, you would need a nvidia 8 series which you can expect to be about $275-$300, around there.

What is the Best Video Card For PCI Slots for 2008? Need for WOW.?

First off I want to say plz do not post lol or haha pci sux, I know it does, and that I should get a new mobo and get agp or PCIe. Also plz do not just post links, plz give the name of item and link for the best possible one. I really want to Play WOW, and experience a decent fps with some good visual quality. I have also played it but I had a geforce 5200 and well I couldnt really enjoy the game as much as I would of liked. I had sent it back for a different better video card at tiger direct, but they sold out it was the Visiontek Radeon 2400 Pro 256MB,and that seemed to be the best pci video card I have seen. Also if I need to get a better PSU plz let me know too with the video card. My specs are listed below. Also I have searched the web on this subject extensively and couldn't find a good answer for the year 2008, I know lol PCI haha.

Here are some of the specs on my computer

-Intel 2.53 GHz CPU

-2.0 GB Ram

-250 Watt PSU

Good luck hunting.|||Companies stopped making PCI based cards awhile ago. The 2400 you were looking at was more than likely a PCI-Express card. That is a different standard from PCI.

Luckily, WOW really doesn't take that much power. Even onboard chipsets can usually handle it at maximum settings. An ATI Radeon from the 9000 series will do what you are looking at without problems. You may want to consider simply upgrading your computer a bit though. For about $400 you could upgrade to a dual core system.|||EVGA GeForce 6200 Video Card will be your best bet from Tiger. I mean 256mb or 128..really dont matter for regular pci tho. Its bottlenecked regardless but Im sure youd be able to play basic games, dont go and try COD4 or Farcry..you wont be able to play those.

You know you could just buy a new motherboard for like $50 thats compatible with your current parts and use them..youll be happy you did. PCI slots are dead my friend video wise.

And no your psu is fine..but if you add more then a graphics card then yes might wasnt to upgrade to 400 watts. But you should be good to go. Just watch your temps and feel the fan to see how hot its getting.

What's the best video card for gaming?

I'm thinking about a 3-way sli of EVGA GeForce GTX 280 cards in my next build. does anyone else have a suggestion? Money is no object, i have been saving for this for a long time.|||You are on the right track by selecting an nVidia setup over ATI. Having used several of both and using an ATI card for the moment I think nVidia is better. I think most people will agree as well. So what ever the best card is right now I bet it will have an nVidia chipset... It does look like the 4870 X2 is more powerful than the GTX 280 but you can't use 3 of the 4870 X2's together like you can with the GTX 280, only 2 of the 4870 X2's in Dual Mode CrossfireX... But you can use 2 or 3 GTX 280's with SLI...|||4870 X2 is better than the GTX 280. If you look on Newegg, there are some motherboards that support more than 2 video cards for Intel processors, but if your going to get 4870 X2s and crossfire them, you cannot use an nVidia chipset on the motherboard. I would suggest put as many 4870 X2s in your motherboard as you can. ATI is definitely beating nVidia right now, the 4870 X2 is better than 2 GTX 260s combined. And yes you can have more than 2 4870 X2s, as long as you have the right motherboard.

Best AGP Video Card under $120 for Gaming?

Been a while since I've built my last computer from scratch, so I've lost track of what cards are good for the money. Some games were tested and work better with the nVidia chipset while others are better using ATI.

The two big cards I have seen competing are the GeForce and the Radeons.

To give you an example, I had a Radeon and when I started playing Dark Age of Camelot, I kept crashing any time I looked at the boat in the harbor. I switched to a GeForce and had no more problems afterward.

What is the best Video Card for these specs?

I have been looking for a good video card but it's becoming difficult to find DDR2 cards as GDDR3 has taken over and now GDDR5 as well. I'm not an extreme FPS gamer (not going to be running any COD or Crysis)

I just need a video card that can handle games like Star Wars EAW, Age Of Empires, etc.

It's not much, but they will play those games. What's your price range?

There are better ones, but this was the cheapest.|||You can use any type of memory when it comes to video cards.

Just because your motherboard supports DDR2 doesn't mean that can't use a video card that has GDDR3 or GDDR5. That only applies to system RAM.

You can use any video card, as long as it's the correct cardbus. In your case, the correct card bus would be PCI Express x16. Just make sure the card will actually fit into your computer. Some video cards are fairly large and won't physically fit into a "slim" computer.|||>DDR2 cards as GDDR3

Your computer's SDRAM memory has nothing to do with what kind of memory your video card uses.

In other words, just pick any PCIE 16x video card. Doesn't matter what RAM you're currently using.

There are lots of video cards in different price ranges to choose from. Generally I like to link video cards with the size of your monitor -- the bigger the monitor, the better the card you should get.

If under 20 inches you'd be looking at spending $120-150 on a decent card like Radeon 4850, Radeon 4870 or Geforce 9600 GT or 9800 GTX.

If over 20 inches, spend about $160-190 on a GTX 260, Radeon 4890 etc

For what you're playing, I would say a card such as the 9800 GT or Radeon 4850 should be enough to handle your games without any hitches.|||okay, lol why do you want a ddr2 cards, those are like almost all gone. But if you must, go to tigerdirect and get the ati 4650, that is ddr2 and it is like under 50 bucks... if anything i recommend getting GDDR3 or get GDDR5.|||id say a Nvidia 8800GTS its not that old still pretty good FPS with it and cheapish now

What's the Best Video Card for ~$150?

I had an EVGA brand 896MB nVidia GTX 260 video card that just died on me. I'm looking to replace it, but I can't spend a lot of money on it with Christmas around the corner, so I'm hoping to pick something up for around $150. I can pick up a used 896MB GTX 260 for about $150 on craigslist, but if I can get something a little better, I figure I should take advantage of the situation and do just that.

I'm willing to spend as much as $180, but only if I can get some noticeable improvement. Normally I'd do the research, but don't have the time to spend several hours looking at benchmarks right now.

I tend to play games like Crysis 2 and F.E.A.R. 3, along with Everquest 2.

Best Gaming Video Card for Under $100.00?

I'm getting a new PC, it's an Asus - Essentio CM5570 and it is definately going to need a new Video Card and possibly a new power supply, depending on the video card. I believe the standard power supply that comes with this computer is a 300watt power supply.

I need a video card that is HDMI capable, under $100. If the video card needs a power supply please give me the correct watt usage, or the minimum Power Supply info.

I will be using this for Diablo 3 when it comes out, will want to run Diablo with the majority of the graphics maxed out.

I will also be using this for World of Warcraft and will want to be able to run with the majority of the graphics maxxed out.|||The best budget gaming card presently in the graphics card market is ATi 4670 1GB GDDR3. It has same performance as costly NVIDIA 9600GT which is about $40 more. ATi 4670 thrashes every game in the world in MAX settings and resolutions of 1440x900 and 1680x1050.

Here check this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

For $60 only.

And ATi 4670 is a very cool card, and consumes very less power. So a 400watt PSU would work. Even 300watt would do, but I dont recommend it under extreme gaming.

NVIDIA 9600GT costs more, same performance, requires extra power cable, is a bigger card, consumes too much power at idle. None of the NVIDIA cards are as good as their ATi counterparts.

For a bit more than 9600GT, you can get ATi 4770 for $109 which thrashes 9800GT. 50% more performance. If you can spend $109, I would say go for ATi 4770: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Every one recommends 4670 in the budget range. Diablo 3 will easily be maxxed out by ATi 4670.

Thanks.|||It's difficult to say without knowing the specifics of your motherboard and power supply.

The best single card in your price range is the Radeon 5870, which hits your budget exactly... some models are $399 with free shipping.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

However, like most high-end graphics cards, power supply requirements must be considered. In order to run a 5870 your computer needs a 550W or higher power supply with two PCI-E power connectors. So if you're currently sporting a 400W psu with a single 6-pin connector, you'll have to allocate some of your budget to a new power supply.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If you have an SLI or Crossfire motherboard, you've got the option to run a pair of $160-$200 cards instead of a single $350-$400 card.

A pair of Radeon 5770's in Crossfire is a powerful combination, even faster than the 5870 in a few game titles.

http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_p…

Those are your two best options. Nvidia's cards are more expensive so unless you've got an SLI motherboard they aren't really competitive in your price range. The GTX 470 is about $350 but barely keeps pace with ATI's Radeon 5850, which only costs $300. The GTX 480 is slightly better than a Radeon 5870 but costs $450, uses more power & generates more heat.

http://www.techspot.com/review/283-gefor…

The GTX 460 is the new king of $200ish cards, so if you've got an SLI motherboard it's an interesting option. The good cards (256-bit 1gb models) go for about $220 so you'd overshoot your budget with two of them. Although you could buy one now, then purchase another one later down the road. Don't bother with the cheaper 192-bit 768mb versions, their smaller frame buffer hurts their performance in high-end games.

Since technologies like SLI and Crossfire aren't supported by all games, I tend to prefer a single higher-end card to a pair of lesser cards. It's really hard to argue with the 5870 at this price point.

FYI, the best card in existence currently is the Radeon 5970, but it's much more expensive.|||Nvidia and ATI are the largest GPU distributors in the world. I would suggest going to tigerdirect.com and looking on the left side for the "video cards" link. The website offers discounted pricing and it will be easier to select depending on your needs. They offer video cards from the $50 dollar range all the way up to $700. But to be safe I would be willing to spend about $100-$200 on a decent graphics card.

Also when buying hardware make sure it is compatible with your system. If you need any more help just contact me.

The best ATI card is the Radeon HD 5970. The cards in the Radeon HD 5800 series are also pretty good although probably not as good as Nvidia. If I were to get a high end video card I'd go with the GTX 470.

Whats the best video card I can get for under 70 dollars?

Right now im working with a 8200 geforce chipset(built into motherboard) And it plays just about all games ok. It lags sometimes, Im guessing somewhere around 10-20 fps on medium settings. I can play mass effect, fallout 3, call of juarez, etc. For me tolerance on lower fps is higher then most people because im used to it. But I figure because I have the extra money why not upgrade to a much better video card.

heres the thing though Im only gonna buy it if the difference is great. I Would like 30-50 fps on most games on around medium or high settings. It would be nice if I could play at max settings without to much lag I have been looking at a few video cards. I want the most bang for your buck. It doesnt HAVE to be 70 bucks. if theres one for 50. thats great.|||well if you can afford the Ati 4670, thats a good card but its about 70$, or you could try the Ati 4650 but its not much cheaper and the 4670 is much better

i do alot of gaming so take that into consideration :P

i know that the BFG has better specs. and have been a dedicated XFX buyer in the past just wanted a second opinion|||For that price, I would get an ATI 5770 Radeon, no question. Much better performance, with DX 11 as an added bonus|||The BFG is clocked faster and requires more Wattage to run.

It's easy enough to change the clock speeds on either card with

The best video card for good gaming?

HD 4870 or GTx 9800

or i wait for HD4890|||NVIDIA is still the king of gaming graphics cards because most games are designed around them. Get the biggest, fastest one you main board can support.

You may also find a need to upgrade to a newer power supply because the high end graphics cards eat power for a snack.

The best way is to buy a complete new case, power supply, mainboard and NVIDIA video card with speed and support for gaming. Then just wipe the old system, install a new windows, and sell it to someone that needs it and will pay a decent price for it.

Then you got all new under warranty and your ready for the next wave....|||A 4870 is better than the gtx 9800, if you have lots of money (because I think the HD 4890 would cost a lot because rumor says it will try to take back the throne from nvidia) then you wait for the HD4890. But my suggestion video cards are not a nice investment since their prices usually depreciate in months. If I were you I would go ahead and buy a mid level cards that are in a very affordable price ranges|||The 9800GTX+ s the BEST card from the 9000 series that is a single card, the 9800GX2 is better. the 4870 IS more expensive, bt a better card thanthe 9800GTX+. But if you want THE best card lok into a GTC285 or better yet the GTX295, they will set oyu back about $400-$600. If this is not what oyu are looking for then choose either a 9800GTX+ or a 4870.

Don't get the 9800GT or 9800GTX, these are infirior models and the 9800FTX+ is only $130 now at

http://www.newegg.com

Hope this helps|||There will always be the next big thing just on the horizon but, the 4870 is better than the 9800GTX. The 9800GTX+ is close to the 4870 but it is still slightly better.|||ATI HD 4870 but if you're going to wait a little bit later I think N Vidia might be the winner with their new 2nd Q videocards.

Is this BFG GeForce GTS 250 OC Video Card good or bad? 10 points for best answer?

Is this BFG GeForce GTS 250 OC Video Card good or bad? 10 points for best answer? i have a ~~~~~>Vostro 220 MINI TOWER<~~~~~~ and i was wondering if this video card WILL WORK on my pc. and also is this video card good for NEWER games like fallout 3, dragon age orgins and other new games thats comming out .? please explain if the video card is bad or good.

P.S.: im not a computer geek so KEEP THE ANSWER NICE AND ~~SIIMPLE~~. I WILL DELETE SPAM AND NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON THIS QUESTION IF I SEE ONE

DONT POST RETARDED COMMENTS

i dont know if my pc is a pci or a pci express and btw i dont know alot of stuff about PCs|||Yes, it will work AND fit inside your system, irregardless of what others have said. It uses and you have a pci express x16 slot on your motherboard. It may not be a pci express 2.0 x16 slot, but the 2.0 is a data transfer rate improvement that even if your system isn't able to take advantage of it, is compatible with your x16 slot. One of my systems is a Dell Inspiron 530 and according to the Vostro 220 mini tower specs, is almost exactly the same size case. I once had a GTX 260 and a 550W power supply in it, and a GTS 250 and a GTX 260 are the same size cards, 1 1/2" wide, 4 1/2" tall and 10 1/2" long. I just measured one of my 260's to make sure.

http://www.upgraderguides.com/hwdb.php?t…

It's not 14~16" long as some people would have you believe, but it is long enough that it will most likely block two of your sata ports. You may need to move your sata cables to the other two ports so the card doesn't have a problem with them. Also, measure the length to make sure you have enough room between the back of your case and the hard drive bay, remember, the card is 10.5" long. Some of them use one 6 pin pci-e power connector and some use two, it depends on who makes the card. The power requirements for the card are a minimum 450W power supply with at least one 6 pin pci-e power connector and a 24A 12V rail. If you get a card that uses two 6 pins and your psu has only one, no problem, the card will come with a 2x molex to 6 pin adapter. Basically it lets you use two of the power supplies 4 pin molex power connectors and converts them to a second 6 pin connector. The card will draw up to 75W from the pci slot itself, but because the card draws up to 150W+, each additional 6 pin connector can also deliver up to 75W each to help power the card. These 6 pin connectors plug directly into the card. Don't even think about trying to use that card with your stock power supply, it can't handle that card. You'll need something like this. Corsair 450W with a 33A 12V rail, one 6 pin pci-e power connector, 80+ energy efficiency rating, $49.99 after rebate.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Corsair makes some very good units, it's the only brand I buy. Read some of the reviews on that one. Here's a tiered power supply list that rates psu's from Best to Not recommended, you'll notice that Corsair is highly rated.

http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/32…

That card will easily play any of todays games with most of them on the highest settings, it's a good card.|||The GTS 250 is a performance oriented card, it is a great card and I have personally used it to play...

Fallout 3

Crysis

COD 4 and 5

Fear 2

Ghostbusters

and a slew of others

All of these played with excellent framerates at full settings however this is where the good news ends...

The GTS 250 is a double height card that rough 14-16 inchs long. Assuming you had the PCI-X slot to install it to it would still be far too large for you to install. This card also requires a 450 Watt or better PSU with 2 PCI-X 6 pin power connectors, your power supply will not meet the requirements for this card both for the connectors it requires as well as the power draw. Sorry.|||It is a low/medium end card it is okay but not great.

Best pci express x16 video card for my system?

hi, im interested in upgrading my video card.

right now i have a 9500gt which im not very satisfied with and cant really handle somewhat graphically intensive games such as fallout 3 on my 1600x900 res screen.

im going to buy a new 500w power supply since mine right now is 250w.

so what is the best pci express x16 graphics card that i could buy thats $100 and under?

my specs:

windows 7 home edition

1600x900 res screen

9500gt

250w power supply ( purchasing 500w for the gts 250 )

2.6ghz intel dual core rated at 3.9 ghz ( please explain the "rated at" )

-thank you|||nothing for that price that is worth it. If you are not willing to spend 150 to 225 you may as well keep what you have. I am not trying to be a jerk or anything but I know because i tried going cheap on these last time i bought 1. THe amd 5770 is really good or even the 5670 would be an acceptable card.|||ati HD 5770 would b the best option for it

Computer specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…|||I can answer your question without hesitation, but there is a problem.

The Radeon HD 6870 is the best $150 card right now. It can handle about any current game on med-high settings, and is quite popular right now.

Here's a slightly overclocked model by Gigabyte for $154.99 after rebate.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Now for the problem- you have an incredibly weak PSU. 250 watts is not sufficient for ANY modern graphics card. Upgrade your PSU first.

You need one similar to this :

What's the best graphics card for about a hundred quid? Not for gaming, more like video and photo editing?

Pretty much anything if you are not planninf on gaming

If doing video editing, have you another video input device ? If not then consider a card with Video input options ( I think you can still get them) like ATI All in Wonders used to be.|||I'm not sure if "quid" means $1.......if it does, then I would suggest Nvdia's 8500 GT - it is a good one that works well with vista.Try it and you won't be disappointed.|||Get a relatively new graphics card, It doesnt really matter what because its only video editing and stuff. (My graphics card is rubbish and it does that perfectly)

If you already have a graphics card, and dont have Sony Vegas, then I reccomend getting that instead =P|||ati not gforce ati--decode movies gforce--lots errors|||I've got an ATI All In Wonder graphics card bought new on ebay for about £80. It has many many connections for all types of applications. I use it to do video editing and I plug my PS2 into it to play on the computer instead of the TV. It has a TV tuner built in also. Altogether an amazing piece of kit. Highly recommended

I would recommend a desktop for the best performance for gaming. It can be pretty tricky or sometimes impossible to replace a video card on a laptop.|||i have a 6300 series which is the lowest and it works fine for games i just lessen the quality enough but not too noticeable just enough to make it run smooth. your is a better one than mine so it should work fine. i play battlefield play for free and portal 2 on my laptop and its fine. you may also need to boost your ram to 4 gigs if its at 2 or something low. anything ATI Radeon is a good graphics card so you should be fine with that.

bassman he never mentioned a laptop but yes they are chips and not cards. mine is a 6310 chip|||The graphics card you listed is for a desk top and will not work in a lap top.

What kind of AGP video card would be best for Sims 3?

I've been trying to find a compatible AGP card to run the Sims (been trying to get this game to work since last summer,) and I've found a bunch of options that I've been looking over. I'm currently trying to decide which would provide the quickest or highest quality performance (at least, the highest quality I can possible get with only an AGP) for a decent price.

I've looked at a GeForce 7600

http://www.compusa.com/applications/Sear…

and a Radeon HD 2600

Which one of those would be the best for this use?|||No doubt the GeForce 7600, it might be a little bit more expensive, but it's performance is much better then the HD 2600, You can also go to www.gpureview.com to compare the cards you want to get.|||Both cards will have similar performance, with the 7600GT just above the HD2600. I would go with the 7600GT.|||agree the agp geforce 7600, if that your decision, once you install the card i would go to nvidia download the latest graphic driver, and microsoft downloads download the latest directx ,

Best video card for under 90$?

I want to buy a video card that is low in price, but be able to play games like GTA4 and Mass Effect at Low/Medium settings. basically the best "bang for my buck".

(really, i can only spend about 70$~80$ max.)|||I would recommend a 5670 as being suitable for your needs. It's low on power use and capable of playing most games at least on Medium at normal resolutions. If you can't stretch quite that far then a 5650 isn't that far behind.|||undoubtedly HD 4670 512 MB-1GB GDDR3 128 bits VC...its cheap and a great Low-medium profile...its plays games like: darksiders max settings, Split second, MW1, MW2, Black ops...a great VC, but if you get a 9600 GT GDDR3 at a great price get her (^ .^) no doubt...and the great and cheap HD 5570 that it better than the HD 4670 GDDR3.

Should I get a new video card and more ram for my existingPC or shold i get a new gaming pc?

These days their are a lot of new games wich require a certian model video card and a minimum ammount of ram ect. Now for a game like Oblivion for example, would it be more practical both by cost and speed to get a new gaming computer or would buying a new and inmproved video card and more ram for my existing computer (Windows XP Home Edition SP 2) or saving towards a new gaming computer? If you think it would be best to go get a differnt video card and more ram then wat card would you recomend for a game like oblivion? Or if you think the only way for good gameplay is getting a gaming computer then perhaps recomend one? Many thanks. My computers a packard bell and i live in the U.K if that helps at all|||You could get more RAM, this will definitley increase your computer's performance.

But to speed up your computer and free up space and memory for free:

Go to the Start Menu> Run

Type in "appwiz.cpl"

Uninstall whatever you don't need.

Next, go to Start Menu> Run again and type in "msconfig".

Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck everything you don't want to startup. If you want, you can uncheck everything, and your anti-virus will still restart itself when you log on.

You could also try installing CCleaner, it will get rid of alot of temporary files on your computer. It also has a registry repair system, which is easily the best free one available on the Internet:

http://www.ccleaner.com/download

Another option is to try defragmenting your computer.

Go to the Start Menu and go to All Programs

Go to Accessories and System Tools.

Choose Disk Defragmenter and when it loads click defragment.

One final thing I would say is to compress your files if you already haven't.

Open My Computer and right click on your hard drive

Check the Compress Drive button and let it do it's thing.

These are short-term solutions however. the easiest way is to just upgrade the RAM on your system, but at least the ways above are free.

If you need an anti-virus, download AVG 8 Anti-virus:

http://www.free.grisoft.com

And for spyware, get SpyBot - Search and Destroy:

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirro…

Both are free, as powerful as paid programs, such as Norton and McAfee, and don't use up too many resources.

Good Luck.|||Oh lord. Packard bell, you say? I'm not from England, but I remember the ghastly rubbish they used to pedddle to families on my side of the channel. It finally caught up to them and PBs haven't been sold in the US for about the last ten years.

You need to post your full specifications including motherboard model or features first, but I'm inclined to think you should head over to a site like Overclockers and start designing..

Sis Chipset? "No future, no future, there's no future "for your PC), and you're dreaming," Sorry, couldn't resist. Anyways, SiS chipsets are mediocre these days, and that thing will asuredly not hold a modern Core 2 Duo chip. The 512MB of RAM i9s meagre for current gaming. These days, it's iGB minimum, and two-four as budgets allow. Alas. you proibably need the older and more expensive DDR-1 RAM. Assuming you're still rocking the SiS onboard, you're also crying for an upgrade there too. One can buy an AGP Radeon HD3850 for 130$ US, which unfortunatelly means it probably costs at least a hundrede quid plus VAT ijn the UK. The power supply would undoubtedly need replacement for such a video card, too, at whick point, I start thinking, why not ditch the assuredly cheap Packard Bell case, at which point nothing but the hard disk and optical drives looks useful.

I say you sell the old and buy orr build a new computer. The other one is just too old and limited at this point for serious gaming, and cheap store-bought computers rarely make good foundations even when new.|||if your desktop can still accommodate the latest technology in video cards and ram. then you don't have to buy a new computer. what you need here is your motherboard model. or at least your computer model. you need to know if your video card slot is at least a pci-express and your ram slot to be at least a ddr2 slot. if not, then you really have to think of buying a new computer if you want to run the latest games.

if you are unsure of your components, download cpu-z here to scan your computer: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

What video card is best for me?

Hi, my gaming system consists of this:

- Windows XP 32-bit

- 3GB ram (XP only recognises 2.35GB)

- Intel core 2 duo 3GHz

- nVidia XFX 8800GTS 320MB

- 320GB Hard drive

- Dell 375w supply

I understand it may not be the most high end of rigs, but since games nowadays aren't advancing graphically like they were before, I figure i don't really need to upgrade much. All of my games (Bad company 2, Arkham Asylum, Bioshock, COD 4, COD 2) Run at the highest settings with very good framerates, Crysis warhead runs alright at parts, but lags heavily on others on high settings with AA off.

I don't want the best video card out there, but just one that is a step above this one, I can get for reasonable price 100 pounds max. I have a 19 inch monitor, don't need that high of a resolution, only 1280 by 1024. What card do you think I should get?|||THe 460 GTX would be your best bet..however...375W wont cut it..you would need at least a 450W PSU with 2, 6 pin PCIe connectors.|||well if u r upgrading from the 8800GTS u should consider choosing the gtx 460 from evga.its a really good budget card to play games like the new call of duty black ops.besides u can get a limited lifetime warranty.|||your budget is too limited for any substantial gains in performance, considering you would need a new PSU as well.

What are the best graphics card for a pcie x16 slot under $100 for video games?

I'm looking for a graphics card under 100 dollars. It doesn't have to be the BEST graphics, but i would like it to have excellent FPS for video games. What do you suggest?|||That's a tough price point. I'd say a 9800GTX+ or an HD5670 is your best bet.|||The "excellent FPS " and "under $100" are often mutually exclusive terms. For a true gaming card plan on spending closer to $200 for a mid-range video card. At the $100 price point you can do a GeForce GTS 250 or a Radeon 5750 if you look hard enough.

What type of video card would be best for recording a hockey game?

I am looking for a video card that I will able to use for capping/encoding ice hockey games. What would be the best video card to use for this fast-paced game where much of the background is white?|||If you are trying to record video from a live tv feed, you aren't looking for a video card, you're looking for a TV tuner card. I can't think of any commercial video cards out on the market which actually handle recording.

I personally run an ATI TV Wonder 650 pci card and it does a good enough job. One of the top makers of TV Tuner cards and external TV Tuner devices is Hauppauge, I've heard lots of good things about their products as well.

Best video card for me?

Hi, I have an NVIDIA Geforce4 MX Integrated GPU. I am looking to buy a video card that will work without any problems for the latest downloadable games. My current one cannot even show their graphics.

My computer is a Windows XP Home Edition 2002, if that helps any. The power supply's Max output is: 250w. If you need any more information I'll edit this question and add it. Thank you for your help!|||Need more info. Basically we need to know what slot you have available to put a graphics card into, this will determine what cards you can buy, and then we will be able to tell you which is the best for your purpose.

If you know what PCI, AGP, and PCI-Express slots look like, then just take the side off the case and tell us. If not, you could open the side and take a photo to post here. Or if you know the make and model of the motherboard, we can google it and find out that way. Or you can run a program like "Everest Home Edition" which will tell you everything about your computer's specification.

Choose your poison.

Also, you should probably specify exactly what games you want to play. You say "the latest downloadable games", if you mean the very latest games like HalfLife2, Call of Duty 4, etc (the kind of graphics-heavy games you get on Xbox 360 or PS3), then you will most likely need a whole new computer. If you mean Flash-based games that you play in your web-browser, then you should be fine with your GeForce, you just need the right plug-ins (software). if you mean anything inbetween, then you should be good with just a new graphics card. Also, you do not need a new power supply.

Perfect! That's all the info we need. For those two games you listed (according to the wikipedia system requirements) you don't need an especially good card, almost any AGP card should be good. It kind of depends on how much you want to spend, I'll give you a few options;

That last one might need a new power supply, though you could try it with your old one first, nothing to lose, the other two will be fine with your current one. The more you spend, the better games you'll be able to play, if you literally only want to play games like the ones you listed, then just get the cheapest one. ive tried the analyze pc program to help me choose a ghaphics card from the Nvidia site, but it doesnt give me any information.

i have a budget of about $160

and i use my computer for Online gaming (World of warcraft, Atlantica, hoping for some shooter games, etc), video editing, watching tv and movies, and stuff like that.|||well you could consider buying GeForce 8800GT which suits your needs and your budget......

hope this solves.........|||Hmm... since its a compaq presario, it probably has a cheap power supply.... not sure about depth of the case either... so, something like a 9800 GTX would likely not fix, or run instability due to you not meeting the power requirements.

If you insist on going Nvidia something like a 9600 GT or a 8800GS/9600GSO might work. They have lower power requirements, and would be able to easily run World of Warcraft and most shooters other than Crysis.|||First, I suggest you buy more DRAM. Windows will noticeably speed up if you add another modules, and games will actually run faster, too. 2GB is an okay figure for vista, and a dual-channel 2x1GB kit cost about $25-30 on Newegg. I doubt your PC supports dual channel, though, so I suggest just buying a lone 2GB module to bump yourself up to 3GB.

Second, your CPU is crap and will hold you back in tasks like video editing, but given the way vendor-customized motherboards are, I doubt you have many options to upgrade it. Research forums if you wish to check out this avenue.

Graphics: Well, 6150se is abysmal. I've used it, and it has all the power of a circa-2002 mainstream card. Newegg has a 9500GT for $40, and while no barn-burner, should get you playing titles like COD4 on moderate settings. Runs on stock power supplies with no 6-pin plug, and doesn't need much cooling attention.|||I think in your case you would need a better power supply at least 450W. You will need more ram 1GB just wount do. You say you only have 38GB of free memory on your Hard drive? I'd opt for more hard drive space. Either get rid of old programs/files you haven't used or get a second hard drive. The MSI NX8800 GTS is really up there but it may be more than your rig can handle. XFX 8600 GT would be good but it requiers at least 300W of power. There is more to making a "gaming" rig than just throwing in a hot video card!

Hi,

I'm shopping for a new laptop. I'm not an expert in computers and I was hoping you guys could help me out. I'm looking for a laptop that has a video card that works awesome with gaming. I've seen a lot of laptops but I'm just not sure which to get because they make choosing complicated. I'd appreciate any help and suggestions. Thank you!|||Laptops to begin with arent designed for gaming. They overheat, the keyboards arent designed for gaming, internet gaming sucks the big on on a wireless network due to packet loss, etc, etc. If you are into serious gaming, get a desktop. But laptop video chipsets are not designed with games in mind. The power used, the package size, the video memory either shared from main or specific for video, and the match to the display is what is important for laptops.

Best video card on the market?

I was wondering if someone could tell me what video card is the absolute best for gaming? I have seen the cards that reach upwards of 2 - 4 thousand dollars, but it seems these are for high end business applications. just the best for gaming?|||The ones you saw are probably the Quadros, Teslas, and the FirePros. Those are enterprise GPUs and won't perform very well in games compared with their Radeon and GeForce counterparts. The current fastest GPU is the Asus Mars II which is a redesigned GTX 590 but the price is ridiculously unjustified @ $1500. The GTX 590 and the HD 6990 are the current fastest reference GPUs and they sell for around $700-$800.|||The two high end video cards are Nvidia's GTX 590 and AMD's Radeon 6990. Both of these cards have two GPUs on the card. Each of these will run you around $800. Their single-GPU counterparts, the the GTX 580 and Radeon 6970, are the second best, and these will cost you around $400. There have been many comparisons between them, and the general consensus is that the Nvidia card wins this round.

I got my NVIDIA 512 DDR2 video card for my desktop about a year or just over a year ago, and at that time it ran me around 140.00, so I am sure that, now, you could at least get one like that for your $100.00, probably less even. It all depends on where you go to get it. if I were you, I would either check for a good deal on Ebay or check out CDW. Ordering online, you are always destined to get a much better deal and much more for your money, than if you walk right into a place and buy one. I eventually learned that, but it took me a while to see and learn that I was paying all those high prices in the stores because of "instant gratification". If you have patience enough to wait, then I would order whichever graphics card you need and can find online. And please, stay away from Craigslist.org in looking for one. What would be the best video card for my Desktop Pc? (details)?

HP Pavilion a1130n Desktop PC

It will be used for gaming. HD movie watching and recording webcam vids. I use Logitech Pro 9000 and it lags every time I record something on that computer and I have a 37" flat screen so what would be the best for me? I want a kick *** graphics card preferably AMD, And yes I know I have to upgrade my power supply too :p|||Your budget may have been helpful.... Currently AMD holds the fastest graphics card on the market... THE Radon 5970. IF you have around $700 to kill, this thing will kick any game's ***, as well as it's mother's, it's father's, it's brothers, and it's sisters *** all at the same time. This particular model is much faster than the stock base design with plenty of room for overclocking too (hence Black Edition). This card kills the GTX 295.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

But i doubt you have that kind of budget, hardly anyone does, especially in this economy.

This card is more acceptable... this card will still kick the **** out of any game, and will handle blu-ray with ease. The 4870 outperformed the GTX 260 in every way shape, and form. The 4890 competes with the GTX 275. The GTX 275 is still $300, the 4890 is under $200 (almost with the 4870 price-range) Still puts a dent in your budget though:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If the the 4870/90 is still too much for you, the the 4850 has a great performance/budget ratio. Only priced at $120 it still competes with the GTX 260

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Since that other one is out of stock at the moment, and if you can't wait, this one works too

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If the 4850 is still out of your budget range, then consider this one. Not as powerful as the other cards, but still plays games on medium graphics, and does blu-ray fine. No power supply connectors required either.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

I hope I helped. Please email me if you have any other questions.|||I'm unsure of your budget. But as far as AMD goes their newest video cards are the 5000 series.

The 5770 would be a very nice card, priced at $180.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

There's cheaper cards but this one is XFX, one of my favorite brands. This coupled with a 750+ watt power supply would be really nice.

If that's out of your price range, maybe a 4850, priced at $110

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Cheaper, but still a nice video card. Couple this with a 600+ watt power supply.

It really just depends on your price range. If you can afford something better, go for it! Good luck!

Edit: As said above the "Best" card would be the 5970. Priced at $650 about. But I would like to add something in. If you're still using your stock cpu, I would recommend upgrading it along with your video card. This would consist of getting a new motherboard and possibly memory. But at this point your almost making a whole 'nother pc, ha. Just saying getting a 5970 while keeping your old Athlon would create a huge bottleneck. Its a good idea to keep a nice balance between your cpu and gpu.|||37" !!!!

Woh you have a home theater system.

For you only one recommendation.

The AMD ATi 5970 Dual Chip Graphics Card.

ATi 5970 is presently the baddest, fastest, most powerful graphics card on the planet. No one stand in front of it. It gives 45% more performance than the Highest NVIDIA card.

What is the best video card driver for games such as assasins creed revelations, minecraft , saints row 2,?

i play some of these games and it runs laggy for me

its coming up to christmas soon and i was thinking on getting a new gaming graphocs card|||x box|||You don't choose different drivers, for games. You use the driver for the graphics card.|||Idiotic answers like Xbox 360 should be ignored and burned...Now, for these type of game you might only need a Geforce GTX 550, Not even that, but this'll run them quite well, since revalations is the newer Assassins creed, then you might wanna get 560 For that high Ultra mega chuck norris FPS (Frames Per Second).

Then you can get 550-570.

What's the best video card for the price right now?

I was only looking to spend about $30 after shipping for a new video card for my computer. I don't do much gaming, but would like to get the best card for the money just in case. I just don't keep up on the new equipment enough anymore to be able to make a good decision on my own. I use pricewatch.com to purchase most of my parts usually. It has to be an AGP card. Which one would you get?

Thanks in advance!|||There are no good cards for $30... Card that cheap (like the GeForce FX 5200 and Radeon 9200) are just obsolete crap, literally a waste of money. You're better off saving until you can get a $55 card.

Unfortunately, AGP cards cost more than PCI-E versions of the same model, because there aren't as many manufactured.

The GeForce 6200, Geforce 7300GT, Radeon X1650 and Radeon 2400 are decent low-cost cards, the Radeon 2600XT is better. The Radeon 3850 is hands-down the best AGP card, but that's a $110 card for gamers.

You best bet is probably looking for a used card on Ebay or Craigslist- something that was $75 brand-new might be available for $30ish, but for Ebay, you'll still have shipping costs.

But yeah, you should be okay. Make sure you get a C2D compatable mobo, so you can upgrade later, because if you get a good video card, and 2GB RAM, the first thing you're gonna need to upgrade will be the processor.|||Yes Proc is fine but for gaming lots of ram and a good video card would help alot, and i mean alot.|||You can try, i think you wont have a problem...|||Yes that would make a good machine if it's paired with a good video card and about 2GB of RAM. Also have a 42in HDTV as a monitor which helps until I want to move it.|||i don't see how are you going to have a problem...

Which graphics/ video card is best for me? Please help?

I'm looking for a graphics / video card that will work best for my Vista Dell Inspiron 530S, 4G ram, 64- bit OS. I'm trying to smoothly run games, such as Devil May Cry 4, GTA IV, and other games with intense graphic systems. Any suggestions? I'm trying to keep it to around $45 and under please.

Thanks so much.|||Hello,

Unfortunately, the graphics card you're looking for will cost you well over $45. Running the games you'd like to play above would require an investment in the hundreds. If you have the money now or save up later than I would highly recommend taking a look at the the nvidia geforce 8800 series.|||You just asked to buy a Graphics card for $45...

So I suppose you need some serious help, which is why I suggest you go to a Hardware orientated site, such as http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/

There people will help find you a graphics card and such.

You will need to go into dxdiag (Start > Search for "dxdiag" > Open dxdiag) and tell them your Motherboard and other system specifications, if you don't, they'll probably just ask you for them.|||You can't buy a modern gaming graphics card for under 50 dollars and those won't be very good.|||Good luck under 45 dollars. It would be easier to play GTA in real life. Pump it up to 200 and maybe.|||You're going to need to spend more if you want to run intense graphic games smoothly.

BEst video card for under $100?

I have microsoft flight simulator X and wanted to upgrade the looks and performance of the game by geting a new video card. I currently have a nvidia TnT2 card. Would it be worth it to buy a new card and what would be the best card for under $100|||Not only will you need a better graphic card, but also make sure you have at least 1 Gig of RAM if you run Windows XP (I would recommend 2Gig for Windows Vista at least). For graphic cards, right now you can get a Nvidia 8500 series graphic card for under 100 dollars.|||PCI or AGP?

http://cgi.ebay.com/XFX-GEFORCE-6200-gra…|||if you had to go with one (as in you will not be getting any more money for quite awhile) I would go with the one I have listed below. You will get a lot more bang for your buck over the others, except on that x800 mabey. I'd have to look at the specs for an x800 again.

http://cgi.ebay.com/XFX-GEFORCE-6200-gra…|||Wow.... ur working with pretty old generation cards, just get

Nvidia GF 7 series, 8 series

or

Ati Radeon x1k series or hd 2000/3000 series

They are much better for performance. u can't play Call of duty 3 if the cards u listed tho. they pretty much suck..........

if u have a budget under $100 get geforce 6800 7600gt

Ati radeon x1650 or even other 1k series.

x800 is OK............

>_> just save up more|||none get a radion 9250 they are awesome|||they'll basically look the same on all of them except the 2nd, and last one having only 128mb of graphics memory.

What graphics card is the best for gaming?

I live in Australia so can you please only give cheap postage or local store cards(ebay is fine)

I was wondering what graphics card would give me the best gaming capabilities for my computer with a budget of around $60.

motherboard: Gnt945 intel

Thank you.|||Those cards kind of suck.

But either of the GT 430's will be better.

But why don't you just get this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ATI-RADEON-HD… and call it a day?

That card will crush those (it's equivalent to a GTS 450, or Radeon 5770/6770) but your power supply needs some 6-pin connectors. You may need to upgrade that first.|||Vid card chart

Best video card for games?

tell me the best video card fr games which will play atleast most games cause i cant pay much for it not more than 180$|||That depends on what type of graphics slot you have.

If you have a PCI-E slot, then the best game performance card you can get for your money is the Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS 256mb. Since the 8800GT came out, these cards had a price drop.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If you have an AGP slot, then the best would be the Geforce 7900GS 256MB. It's the best for AGP motherboards, but cannot run DX10.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Yes, I'm an Nvidia fan. But I also have an ATI card which I use for my Media Center PC. But for games, it's Nvidia.|||I'd recommend the GeForce 7900GT. Im not too sure about the price though. The Geforce 8500 is pretty good for the money. if you can, get it "factory overclocked" (runs faster w/ good cooling)

Best graphics card for video game programming?

hi

iam taking video game programmign course this semester.

and would like to know which graphics card to use in my windows machine to create decent video game graphics quality, and at affordable price. the card should have support for vertex and pixel shading.

|||Well i recommend you check out one of the many review websites, they usually also list the specifications of the cards they review and compare.

One of such websites would be http://www.gpureview.com/ - GPUReview

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php - Video Card Comparison

When you have found a card you like, simply do a search as of where you can get it at a reasonable prize. You would need to know more about hardware anyway eventually, chosing a graphics card is one of the easier matters.|||Ugh... Whenever I hear about game programming colleges and the like, I feel like I'm gonna puke.

Truthfully, before making any kind of program that handles a significant amount of data and/or is CPU intensive (e.g. 3D games & codecs ), it is better to know optimized programming.

To illustrate my point, think of a 'Hello World' console program. It seems simple enough to make, but these days very, very few people know how to make an efficient one - including people who have been programming for YEARS. Almost everyone would use something stupid like printf() or cout() in Windows. Using a modern Microsoft C++ compiler, this results in an .exe file over 40KB in size, PLUS over 700KB of wasted memory on support .dlls.

Here's my 'Hello World' console program:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…

What I'm trying to say is that I think that it is better to use your time to learn to make more efficient programs, rather than to waste time trying to make an advanced type of program with bloated, slow code. Besides, no REAL programmer ever bothered with video/computer game classes.

Anyway, to answer your question, any DirectX 10-capable video card is fine. You should be able to pick up a DirectX 10 capable video card for less than $80.

|||NVIDIA has best graphics, support, and also avalible at offordable price.

Which video card is the best for pc gaming?

i want to buy a new video card which support new games with awesome graphic like Prototype, assassin creed, crysis, NFS undercover etc

the one im currently using is GeForce 6150SE nForce 430|||Try this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/… You may need a bigger psu

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||i would say the best thing out there, is the nVidia GeForce 295GTX. but for what your using now, this setup would completely overkill your system. oh yeah, undercover is a great game!|||Well, the "best" single card solution is the nVidia GeForce 295GTX, but if your current video card is only a 6150SE on an nForce 430 motherboard, it would be overkill for your system.

Which video card is best for upgrading sony vaio CR590?

I have sony vaio CR590 and have Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 inside. This Graphic Adapter is terrible - every game I play is lagging! I have slot for video card and would like to buy one for it. Which one is the best for Vaio CR590 for playing games?|||I found this site that had a bunch of info on video cards like side by side comparable stats and which ones were the best for the money and brand. I think itll help you out, just click on the third link down.

http://www.iVideoCard.info

HOpe it helps :)|||None, it is almost impossible to upgrade graphics cards in a laptop. UNLESS your laptop came with a removable card to begin with... Which isn't what is going on in your case, the x3100 is an onboard graphics chip that is made onto the motherboard of your lappy and cannot easily be removed... Second option, buy another PC...|||Almost all laptops have their video card integrated on the motherboard so upgrade is not possible. You can't change your video card.

And your laptop probably doesn't have a video slot !

Which of these is the best Video Card For Gaming?

ATI Radeon HD 5450

ATI Radeon HD 5770

AMD Radeon HD 6570

AMD Radeon HD 6670

AMD Radeon HD 6770

AMD Radeon HD 6790

AMD Radeon HD 6850

Intel HD Graphics 2000

NVIDIA GeForce GT 440|||Intel HD Graphics 2000 < ATI Radeon HD 5450 < NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 < AMD Radeon HD 6570 < AMD Radeon HD 6670 < ATI Radeon HD 5770 = AMD Radeon HD 6770 < AMD Radeon HD 6790 < AMD Radeon HD 6850|||6850 all the way.

GT440? lol wtf.

and 6850 DESTROY a 6790, always.

and the GT440 is newer than the GTX460, the 4 in the front is for generation, 420, 430, 440, 450, 460 etc are different cards in the same generation, the bigger the second number, the stronger the card.

for ATi, the first number 6xxx or 5xxx is for generation, the second number as in 68xx is series, the bigger the second number, the stronger the card, but among he 68xx, there are 6850 and 6870, 6870 being the stronger, among the 67xx, there are 6750, 6770 and 6790, the 6790 is strongest among the 67xx, but 6850 is stronger than any 67xx card.|||It's between the 6790 and the 6850, depending on which has more GDDR5 memory.

Intel is NEVER a good video card for gaming.

The GT440 isn't as good as some of the newer ones, like a 460 or 470.|||Vid card chart

Video Card Fit For these certain games?

I plan on purchasing a new gaming computer, but i can't decide what video card i should buy to fit the games listed at the bottom.

The 2 choices are...

1.SLi, Dual nVidia GeForce 9800GT 512MB

2.ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB

I would like to know which Video Card is best fit for gaming for these games - COD 4, TF2, and BF2.

(Price is not a problem because they're free.)

Thanks in advance!|||The ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB is far superior than the 9800GT 512MB. However, I don't know if 1 HD 4870 is better than 2 9800GT's. I'm sure they would put out nearly the same performance (assuming the games support SLi or CrossfireX configurations).

Either of them would be good for your computer assuming that you have the necessary processing power and RAM (and PCI-E slots) in your computer to support the Graphics Card(s) in those games.

If those games are laggy or slow for you already, its not because of the video card.|||Both will play the games beautifuly but i would go with the Nvidia. They're just making a better product then ATI. Make sure you have enough RAM too.|||Go with the Radeon, in my experience they are better cards. I currently use 2X Radeon 4850 in Crossfire configuration.
