Whats the Best Cheap video card for my computer?
I have an old dell dimension 3000. I've always kept it running smooth, thats why its lasted me a long time. Ive upgraded its ram to 1gig, since its running XP. It also has a 5.1 creative sound card. What cheap video card should i upgrade so that i could have constant, high FPS on games? And what else simple modifications should i do? Add more ram? Could i change the CPU? BTW: My computer is 2.8ghz P4|||More RAM is always good. I have a dimension 2400 and I upgraded from 512MB to 2GB and I couldn't put a price on the improvement. You could upgrade the processor, as long as you get a compatible CPU. P4 is socket 775. Also, not all 775 motherboards support all 775 CPUs. For example, Core 2 is socket 775, but your motherboard probably doesn't support them. As for a video card, you should check to see if your motherboard has PCI express slots. If it does, you should definitely install a card in a PCIx16 slot. Otherwise, you will have to use PCI, which is much slower. Look at this diagram. http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/cooldrive… Most good cards use the 16x spec. Use http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.… to find the perfect card for you based on price and interface.
