Whats the best video card for gaming?

I'm looking for the best new video card for gaming - PCIx - price no object.|||Whether you want a dual or single graphics card setup, your best bet is the 8800 GTX by Nvidia. It's the most feature-rich (DirectX 10 compatible) and highest performing (highest frame rates). Some of the manufacturers for this card are EVGA, BFG, and Foxconn, just to name a few. Physically, all the different brands are nearly identical. However, the GPU cooler, accessories, warranty, included software, and customer service may vary from one to another. Nvidia recently released the ULTRA version, which is basically a manufacturer overclocked version (if you don't want to overclock the GTX yourself). EVGA's ULTRA version uses WATER COOLING, so be sure you have a water cooling setup before purchasing this model. Some other makers have ULTRA versions that use air cooling. I would look at these if that's what you have in your system. IF you have even more money to burn, get a second card (assuming you have 2 PCIx x16 slots) and set them up in SLI mode.

I'd also recommend visiting Toms Hardware for reviews of top video cards on the market at

|||There are really only two choices for high-quality gaming video cards. You either need to go with nVidia or ATi. They alternate on which one is actually "the best." One company will make a really fast chipset then the other will come out with something even faster. Ultimately, you can get really nice performance out of either. As far as which specific model to buy, that depends on how much you are willing to spend. Both companies make very expensive cards that can use multiple GPUs working together and are far more powerful than what the average video game requires. My recommendation is that you look at the requirements of the games you play now, and buy something a few steps better. Unless of course price is not an issue. With video cards, like with many things, you tend to get what you pay for. Often the more expensive a card is, the more powerful. There are some exceptions but that should give you a good place to start.|||Graphics cards have a huge range of prices and abilities. Graphics cards good for gaming may not be the best for editing video. Video cards that excel for graphic design may fall short on gaming. How do you decide what's best for you? This page contains reviews of graphics and video cards as well as information to help you choose the best graphics card for your application.

HD5970 is the best one (it's like 2 HD5850 welded togheter...)

But it's at 650$-700$ CAD...

I think the HD5850 is still the best for the money, it will play any games at max settings for now , at worst when it begins to "lag" you can always buy another one and SLI them... It also has the EyeFinity thing that allow 3 screens.

HD5850 runs around 280$-350$ CAD.

Hope this helps

PS: i don't think you can SLI 2 HD5970...|||I recommend the 2 * Asus Nvidia 8800 GTS 768M

Tad expensive, and needs a good PSU though.
