Better for gaming: i7 920 at 4Ghz with HD 5770 or i5 750 at 4Ghz with HD 5850 video card?

which combination would be best for heavy gaming?

i7 920 @4Ghz with HD 5770 video card

or

i5 750 @4Ghz with HD 5850 video card?

both with 8GB RAM 2200Mhz|||It's a tough call, but I would say get the i5.

Take a look at this link:

If you take a look at these benchmarks for gaming, you can see that you only get a few FPS more with the i7 than the i5. You can easily gain those FPS and more by getting a HD5850 over a HD5770.

I hope this helps!|||go with the i7920 - it has turbo boost and a lot more cache ram.

I am assuming the video card is better than the i5 card simply because the processor is more powerful|||Lol OMG, my PC i just built a few months ago has a Core i5 and a HD5850.

I would definataly go for the i5, as at 4GHz.. seriously you dont have to worry about much at all at that speed. And the Core-i5 and Core-i7 have the same 8MB L3 cache... just the i7 has hyperthreading. To other guy: The Core-i5 750 has turbo boost too, but if you overclock to 4ghz, it usually gts disabled anyway.

The HD5850 is wayy better than the 5770, and i can play crysis at full detail and 2x anti-aliasing at 1680x1050.

Just on the OC'ing... what cooler are you going to get, if you haven't decided, i would say get the Nocturea UDP-12 or something like that, its very good.
