The best video card for good gaming?

HD 4870 or GTx 9800

or i wait for HD4890|||NVIDIA is still the king of gaming graphics cards because most games are designed around them. Get the biggest, fastest one you main board can support.

You may also find a need to upgrade to a newer power supply because the high end graphics cards eat power for a snack.

The best way is to buy a complete new case, power supply, mainboard and NVIDIA video card with speed and support for gaming. Then just wipe the old system, install a new windows, and sell it to someone that needs it and will pay a decent price for it.

Then you got all new under warranty and your ready for the next wave....|||A 4870 is better than the gtx 9800, if you have lots of money (because I think the HD 4890 would cost a lot because rumor says it will try to take back the throne from nvidia) then you wait for the HD4890. But my suggestion video cards are not a nice investment since their prices usually depreciate in months. If I were you I would go ahead and buy a mid level cards that are in a very affordable price ranges|||The 9800GTX+ s the BEST card from the 9000 series that is a single card, the 9800GX2 is better. the 4870 IS more expensive, bt a better card thanthe 9800GTX+. But if you want THE best card lok into a GTC285 or better yet the GTX295, they will set oyu back about $400-$600. If this is not what oyu are looking for then choose either a 9800GTX+ or a 4870.

Don't get the 9800GT or 9800GTX, these are infirior models and the 9800FTX+ is only $130 now at

Hope this helps|||There will always be the next big thing just on the horizon but, the 4870 is better than the 9800GTX. The 9800GTX+ is close to the 4870 but it is still slightly better.|||ATI HD 4870 but if you're going to wait a little bit later I think N Vidia might be the winner with their new 2nd Q videocards.
