Need help picking out a PCI video card for gaming..?

Hello there I have a Compaq Presario SR1722X with a Intel Pentium 4 inside. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 though and am playing World of Warcraft..running with the onboard video card I play about 5fps on the lowest settings, so I'm going to go ahead and get a new card. I'm looking at newegg and found a couple choices. I'm wondering if they are any good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… I am fine with running 15, preferably 20fps, nothing too high. If neither of these will get me there could you point me to THE BEST PCI video card to maximize my fps please, thank you.|||You have a PCIEx16 slot, so do not use a PCI card, use a PCIEx16 card... You most likely will not get a PCI card to be recognized by your PC... Go for a 6770 or a 550ti, if you do not want to upgrade your power supply...|||FYI, AMD's Linux drivers are very buggy and really suck (they also freeze the whole computer occasionally), but Nvidia's drivers are very good.|||your links don't work. you probably copied and pasted them from a previous question.

Your computer is capable of a PCIx16, anything like a geforce 440-450 or radeon 6850-6870. Make sure your power suppy will support whatever card you get. (good video cards use a lot of power). When you go to specs on the video card you want, it will tell you how much power your PSU should supply, get one that falls in that range if you don't wanna replace your power supply TOO!

EDIT: okay it's difficult to find how many watts your psu is.. but it seems the replacement part is 300 watts.. so i'm gonna go with 300 watts.., you can always check yourself on your own by looking. Since that's pretty low powered, and since your case is probably small, and since it has an ATI chipset, i think your best bet is to go with a radeon like: http://www.amazon.com/EAH6670-DIS-1GD5-R…

It says it recommends a 400 watt psu or higher... and that's as low as they go. So if it doesn't work, I'd recommend also installing a new power supply unit for that baby.

Just stick that baby in to your "PCIx16" slot, and you should be good to go. You'll also probably get a lot higher than 20. Maybe even 60 or so at medium settings... I've never had this card before but the reviews are good. good luck.
